When discussing plants, we often hear terms like native, invasive, noxious, exotic and more. If you have ever found these terms confusing or want to know how to determine what terms apply to plants you are concerned with, this presentation is for you! Join Phoebe Robb, Master Watershed Steward and Master Gardener in navigating this language. Terminology associated with native and invasive species will be identified and explained and resources will be provided for determining which category applies to any given plant.
Phoebe Robb has been active in the environmental field since, as a very young girl, she helped her grandfather plant American Chestnut trees on his farm in an early attempt to rescue this wonderful tree. After 30 years working as an environmental engineer for EPA and then a manufacturing firm she retired and obtained her dual certifications through Penn State Extension. Using her work experiences and knowledge gained during these trainings, she now assists her township and neighbors in improving local water quality through educational programs and riparian buffer plantings along local streams.
This program is part of the “Digging Deeper: Developing a Closer Connection with Native Plantings” series for those looking to create a closer connection with native plantings in their own backyard and community. This blended virtual and in-person series offers a different perspective on ways to engage on a deeper level with your natural surroundings.
This event is open to the public and may be recorded. It is a "pay what you wish" program with proceeds benefitting Brandywine Conservancy’s education and outreach. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link. Thank you for considering a donation.
