Virtual Talk with Victoria Wyeth
Virtual Talk with Victoria Wyeth: Andrew Wyeth 1985 to 1999
Monday, January 27 and Tuesday, January 28, 2025 (live program repeated on two evenings)
7 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) on Zoom
Join Victoria Wyeth as she shares her uniquely personal perspectives on the art of her grandfather, Andrew Wyeth (1917-2009) and presents both familiar and never-before-seen work by the artist.
In January, Victoria will explore Andrew Wyeth’s life and career between 1985 and 1999, a prolific time for the artist marked by public acclaim and critical challenges. Major exhibitions of his work included American Vision: Three Generations of Wyeth Art which traveled to 5 international venues beginning at the Academy of the Arts of the USSR in Leningrad and Andrew Wyeth: The Helga Pictures which toured to 7 cities in the US. This was also a period of reflection for the artist as seen in his autobiographical masterwork, Snow Hill (1989). In 1990, andrew and his wife, Betsy James Wyeth, purchased Benner Island off the coast of Maine. This became their primary summer home and along with nearby Allen Island, a source of inspiration for new work such as Two if by Sea (1995).
The program will be held on Zoom and participants are invited to ask questions. The presentation is the same on both evenings. Limited-time viewing of the recording will be available for those who miss the live event. Proceeds support the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art.
