Searching for Shermund

Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 2 – 3 pm

Price: Pay-what-you-wish

Location: Online via Zoom

Join us online for a lively conversation with Senior Curator Amanda C. Burdan and Barbara Shermund’s niece, Amanda Gormley about the exhibition, “Tell Me a Story Where the Bad Girl Wins: The Art and Life of Barbara Shermund.”

Amanda Gormley, a professional investigator by trade, began learning about her own family history and uncovered the triumphs and tragedies of Shermund’s story. Gormley will share her unique perspective of helping write a woman cartoonist back into history and laying her to rest. The museum’s exhibition on Shermund has been extended through July 13th.

The program will be held online via Zoom and the link to access the event will be sent to the email address during the pay-what-you-wish registration. Please double-check your spam/junk folder if you do not receive the confirmation email. If you encounter any difficulties in registering or accessing the Zoom link after registering, please email bgamberg@brandywine.org. The event will be recorded and shared if you are unable to attend live.
