The Brandywine River Museum of Art in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania and the Greenwich Historical Society in Cos Cob, Connecticut will partner to present a unique virtual curator’s discussion, inspired by two fall exhibitions positioning American Impressionism as a national phenomenon that reached its strongest height as an expression of regional attachment. Amanda C. Burdan, Curator at the Brandywine River Museum of Art, Lisa N. Peters, independent scholar and curator of Life and Art:The Greenwich Paintings of John Henry Twachtman; and Scott Shields, Associate Director and Chief Curator at the Crocker Art Museum, will each offer a perspective into various facets of American Impressionism, ranging from the shores of Connecticut to the Pacific coast of California.

Presented in partnership with Historic Artist’s Homes and Studios (artistshomes.org) , a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, of which the Andrew Wyeth Studio, N.C. Wyeth Home and Studio and the Bush-Holley House are member sites. This event accompanies the exhibition America’s Impressionism: Echoes of a Revolution, on view at the Brandywine Museum of Art from October 9, 2021 to January 9, 2022 and Life and Art: The Greenwich Paintings of John Henry Twachtman, on view at the Greenwich Historical Society from October 6, 2021 to January 9, 2022.
