Learn the history and techniques of egg tempera painting from the early Renaissance through the medium’s resurgence in the 20th century. University of Delaware Paintings Conservator Brian Baade will explain the materials historically used for tempera painting and introduce the scientific tools employed for their identification. Demonstrations will include the creation of organic pigments and the practice of egg tempera painting. 

The Museum will open at 5:30 p.m. with the lecture at 6 p.m. and a reception to follow.
