Inspired by the exhibition, “Jerrell Gibbs: No Solace in the Shade,” this workshop is led by nationally acclaimed storyteller and musician TAHIRA, whose work amplifies voices and histories often left unheard. Community members are invited to bring a personal or family photograph as an entry point into exploring Gibbs’s themes of memory, belonging, and representation. Guided by TAHIRA’s unique blend of storytelling, music, and facilitation, participants will:

• Reflect on the ways photographs preserve memory and identity.
• Engage in meaningful dialogue about family, history, and representation.
• Shape their reflections into short narratives or spoken-word pieces, giving voice to the stories their photographs hold.

Through TAHIRA’s artistry, the workshop becomes more than an activity—it is a space for honoring personal histories, building community, and extending the conversation sparked by Gibbs’s paintings into lived experience.
