Plein Air Painting Workshop

Price shown is for full workshop which includes:

  • Monday, June 21, 7:00-8:30 p.m.: Introduction and lecture on Zoom (will be recorded and shared with participants who can't attend this part)
  • Wednesday, June 23 to Friday, June 25, 2021, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, daily: Workshop at Museum campus

Painters of all skill levels are invited to join artist Fran Atkinson for an immersion into plein air painting along the Brandywine. The workshop will include discussions about composition, color, and value, painting demonstrations, gallery visits, and extended painting sessions on the Museum campus or from the expansive windows in the Museum atrium. Artists may work in oil, watercolor, gouache, pastel, or acrylic.

COVID-19 Precautions: The workshop will be primarily held outside and will allow for social distancing. Participants are required to wear masks while interacting with the instructor, while in close proximity to others, or while entering the Museum. In the event of bad weather, social-distanced indoor space will be available.

Fran Atkinson has a BFA in Painting from Tyler School of Art. She paints and exhibits locally and is a docent at Brandywine River Museum of Art. She previously taught art in public schools and worked in creative marketing.
