To celebrate moths as pollinators, Penguin Court is hosting a “Mothing Night” on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 8:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
Join us for this night-time, outdoor program, which will be led by Andrea Kautz, an entomologist with the Powdermill Nature Reserve, to learn more about these largely nocturnal pollinators. Multiple “mothing sheets” will be set up to attract moths, which we will identify and log. Learn why moths are so important and how to set up your own mothing stations and attract moths to your landscapes!
We will be outside for the program, so please dress accordingly and bring a headlamp and/or flashlight as well as a camp chair for yourself, water, and snacks.
Registration is limited to 25 participants, and all ages are welcome; however, children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Also, each adult and child must be registered.
If the program fills and you would like to be added to our waiting list, please email Melissa at mreckner@brandywine.org with your name, cell phone number, and the number in your party.
This event will be rescheduled if there is severe weather, so watch for a “go, no-go” email the morning of the program.
