Andrew Wyeth at Kuerner Farm: The People Behind the Paintings
Wednesday, August 27 at 6 p.m. in-person at the Brandywine Museum of Art
$20; $15 Brandywine members
In connection with the exhibition Andrew Wyeth at Kuerner Farm: The Eye of the Earth, this public dialogue will explore the history of the Kuerner Farm and the real lives of Karl and Anna Kuerner beyond their depictions in dozens of paintings. Karen Baumgartner, Collection Manager of the Brandywine’s Wyeth Study Center and author of an essay on this topic for the exhibition’s catalogue, will be in conversation with Karl J. Kuerner, an artist, lender to the exhibition, and grandson of Karl and Anna. These insiders will go beyond the mythology of a beloved creative chapter to the true stories of a place that has become iconic through its depiction by Andrew Wyeth.
The Museum and exhibition will open at 5:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 6 p.m. Additional time for viewing the exhibition and a reception will follow.
Tickets for events hosted by the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art are non-refundable.
